Kwami Kpodoh Appointed Member of the Technical Committee of Ghana Swimming Association

The First ever Delegates Congress  of Ghana Swimming Association was held at the Media Center, Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Friday 28th May, 2010.
Congress delegates were drawn from stakeholders across the country. Hon. Aquinas Quansah, has been elected President of the Ghana Swimming Association.

Mr. Edzie to was elected Vice President while Mrs. Helena Williams (University of Ghana) was elected Treasurer. The other two Executive Member positions went unopposed to Hon. Kojo Adu-Asare and Richard Nii Ahene Koomson while Williams Kyei occupied the Secretary-General Position.

The Executive Council later co-opted the following officers to the Board; Yaw Adu, Kweku Sam-Brew, Eric Kornor, Mrs. Marguerita Accad, Kojo Abbiw Jackson. The Board also appointed Kwami Kpodoh and Mike Vuvor as Members of the Technical Committee with Kojo Abbiw Jackson as the Head and Legal Advisor.

The Congress which saw the Association adopting a Constitution was organized in accordance with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) requirements for Sporting Associations.

Kwami Kpodoh Elected As Executive Member Of The Greater Accra Swimming Association
Kwami Kpodoh has been elected into office as an Executive member of the Greater Accra Swimming Association at an election held at Ohene Djan Sports Stadium by all stakeholders on Friday, 9th April 2010. Kwami Kpodoh has two (2) years mandate to develop and promote swimming in the Greater Accra Region. Signed by the Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Sports Association Hon Nii Armah Ashitey and Mr. Saka Acquaye (Reg. Sports Dev’t Officer)
Kwami Kpodoh Invited To Participate In 2010 ASCA World Clinic & World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA) Gold medal clinic.

Kwami Kpodoh is invited by American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) to participate in the 2010 ASCA World Clinic & World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA) Gold medal clinic from August 30-September 5, 2010 in Indianapolis (USA)

FINA Synchronized Swimming Judges Schools 2010 Held in Durban, South Africa

Kwami Kpodoh took part in the FINA School for Synchronized Swimming Judges from April 10-13, 2010 in Durban, South Africa, with Danae Christou (Egypt), events sub-committee member of FINA as main lecturer.

The four –day School comprised the following topics on its programme:
Day 1:Participants learned about psychology and ethics in synchronized swimming as well as basic positions and movements and acquired knowledge in judging figures.
Day 2: Focused more on the technical dimension of synchronized swimming with regards to routines and elements and on the way to judge them.
Day 3: Judging in free routines in respect of both technical merit and artistic impression and judging the combination were discussed.
Day 4: Examination day for the Judges.

Telkom SA National Aauatic Championship, Kingspark Pool, Durban, South Africa
Telkom SA National Aquatic Championships took place recently at the Kingspark Pool in Durban, South Africa. Below are pictures from the competition.
EMMANUEL BROWN VISITS GHANA

Between August 25 and September 8th, 2009, Emmanuel Brown a senior swimming lecturer ( Tutor), from Manie’s Swimming School in UK worked with us at Albatross Swimming School during the school holidays.

It was an intensive course for two weeks. This was geared for both adults and children: Improvers, Beginners and Non swimmers.

RLSS NATIONAL POOL LIFEGUARD QUALIFICATION (RENEWAL

Pictured below are the participants of a successful renewal of the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and The National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) certificates, which took place at Lincoln Community School (LCS), Accra-Ghana, in conjunction with the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) United Kingdom.

The training were conducted by Elaine Lewis and Angela Buckley, lifeguard Trainer Assessors (TA) from RLSS UK from August 11-15, 2009.
Albatross Swimming School’s Coach also renewed his certificate which will expire on 14th August 2011.

Both lifeguard Trainer Assessors were able to share their knowledge and experience with the participants. At the end of the training an examination was conducted. All participants were successful in the examination.

 
 
SUMMER SWIM LESSONS 2009
Below are photos of the summer swim lessons which were conducted by International Olympic Committee Level 2 swimming coach, Kwami Kpodoh from 20th June to 10th August.
The swim lessons content was focused on water safety and four competitive swimming strokes namely Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly.
 
EMMANUEL BROWN VISITS GHANA FROM UK

Emmanuel Brown, BSc (Hons), Amateur Swimming Association (UK) Tutor, Royal Life Saving Saving Society, Trainer and Assessor at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre, United Kingdom visted Albatross Swimming School Training Centers from May 6th to 17th, 2009. During his visit, he was also on one of the Ghana Television (GTV) programs talking about swimming and life saving in Ghana and the way forward.Picures below are from the sessions.

He will be back by the end of the year to train swimming teachers.
